Academy Improvement 2026-27

Reffley Academy Development Plan

As part of our commitment to ensure that we deliver a high quality education and experiences for our pupils, leaders are constantly reviewing what is working effectively and what could be improved.

To highlight the current areas of focus, we have an improvement and development plan. The plan is made up of targets and actions and is used as a tool to help leaders to maintain high standards, a good quality curriculum and effective policies and procedures.

The key aims of the School Development Plan are:

To improve spelling accuracy (Year 1 to year 6) through the implementation of a consistent, high-quality spelling scheme and robust assessment practices.

To raise attainment in writing (EYFS to Year 6) across the academy through the implementation of an inclusive, high-quality writing scheme.

To improve pupil attendance and engagement through the implementation of a structured wellbeing curriculum (years 1-6), targeted PSED interventions (EYFS), including a passport reward system.

To improve the accuracy and effectiveness of assessment within the SRB to demonstrate clear pupil progress and the impact of interventions.

To enhance targeted support and assessment for SEND pupils with significant needs through effective use of iASEND with a particular focus on SEMH.

Leaders in our academy use the targets and actions set out in our improvement and development plan as a focus for what activities take place at the academy. The plan is reviewed half-termly (and sooner when needed).
